I have an older Lewmar 30 that I have been trying to figure out how to dissymble for maint.
Any source out there of how-to or diagrams? This unit does not have the “screw off cap” shown on the Lewmar site. It is self tailing single speed.
Thanks – EricPost generated from Pearson424 Forum using Mail2Forum

ParticipantMaybe it’s an older “wave grip” model. Try this link to Pyacht.com

Hi Eric,
I have a very nice pamphlet B2304 Issue 6 – Winch Service Manual – Standard and Self Tailing Models 6 to 66. It contains instructions and photos. Unfortunetely it seems to cover only the more recent Ocean Series (like the manual Rich refered to). However, there is a page (page 49) which lists the manuals for earlier models. It indicates that Service Manual 6 Starting March 85 applies to model 30 ST.
Good luck,
Phil Fontaine

ParticipantThese are the winches that are on the mast? I seem to
remember that there is a left hand thread involved
here. I just can’t remember which part. I had mine
apart last year. Sucks to get old…..

ParticipantIt’s coming back to me….
Try rapping the self-tailer with a rubber mallet, I
still think it’s a left hand thread, but try it both
ways…..

rich, the one shown in your manual has a screw off cap.
Eric some older ones had a split ring around the top, if you take a picture i might be able to tell you. David ThompsonOn Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 12:51 PM, Rich Carter wrote:
