On Easy Reach we have a symmetric spinnaker and ATN sock. I keep it on top of the life raft just in front of main mast in a double bag to protect it against UV and from getting too wet from rain or boarding waves. I rig it with a tack line run through a block secured to the very tip of the anchor sprit and ruj back to the cockppit and control it by adjusting the tack, the halyard, and the sheet as needed to trim to wind speed and direction.

The tack line is very useful to facilitate dousing of the sail into the sock, both it and the sheet are eased as the sock is pulled down. In the cockpit, Janet eases one and then the other as I pull downthe sock. We have the sail very useful on Lakes Erie and Ontario and in crusing behind the great barrier reef o Belize.

Even though the sail is suymmetric, we have never used a pole to run direcly downwind. I view that as too much for a two person crew.
