Some of you may have seen this on our blog, but I wanted to let you
know directly rather than let you see it on YachtWorld. Dawn and I
have decided to move to Honolulu and not to take Deep Playa with us.
We’re cleaning her up today for her photo shoot and she should be
listed on Yacht World in a couple of days.We have loved owning and caring for Deep Playa and being a part of
this community of fellow P424 Owners. I don’t think I could thank you
all enough for your help and support along the way. I will definitely
put the next owners of Hull #152 in touch with the list. I also plan
to convert some of my blog posts on modifications and upgrade to a
format so they can be archived on Pearson424.org as well.No definite plans set for our arrival in Honolulu, but it is good to
know there’s a P424 we can visit there!Thanks a lot!

In my opinion, Hawai’i is a great sailing area. The trades are 15-20 almost 90% of the time and you can’t beat the weather. Year round. The only negative is that you have to cross the channels to get to the other islands. Conditions can be iffy and seasonal.
There are slips available and are they are generally cheaper than most apartment rentals. There’s a great live aboard community out here at Ko Olina. By the way, there is my 424 ketch and a 422 here in the marina.

I have to second those sentiments. We absolutely love Deep Playa and
will miss her after so many years of fixing her up and living with her
in our lives. I do not believe that we will own another boat as
beautiful as she. Everywhere we go we get compliments about her
beauty. Thanks everyone for the immense amount of support and wisdom
you have provided to us over the years. This community was a major
selling point for us when we were deciding on the type of boat we
wanted. I hope to pass our knowledge along with the ownership of Deep
Playa.
