I have the W58 and it does indeed have a solinoid valve. It is located on the High Pressure injection pump just below the oil filter. One must be careful when you re-wire the key switch to make sure the solenoid is turned OFF with the key, else the engine will not shut down. mmmmm how do I know that?
I am thinking it would be a good thing to have a spare.

Thanks very much. this is what i had been missing. if the wiring to the solinoid is like the rest of the fuel system this could be causing the intermittent shutdown. i will verify that all the wiring is sound then move on.
