That was me Rich, Walter of SV Madness.
I chose to fix the old system, and add a 12V system to the same box. I
have not tried the hybrid system yet.On May 21, 2:14 pm, re.car…@comcast.net wrote:

ParticipantSince Rich and Walter have raised the subject, anyone out there want an engine drive system to refurbish or experiment with? I have two, an original to P-424 Grunert or Crosby, and a later model Grunert system.
Price is right, FOB Annapolis, MD.

I’ve replaced almost everything in my Grunnert refrigeration system over the past 22 years. If you need pointers for repairing what you have, let me know.—

ParticipantRich-
Thanks for the reply. Old Pearson system, a “techcomsa” (SP?) compressor, large green receiver/heat exchanger assemby, two galvanized refrig cold plates is free, fob here. The other system, a Grunert with a Sankyo (or similar) compressor and one stainless steel holding plate, receiver, etc. is $200.
Both are R-12 systems and would need new expension valves, dryers, hoses, etc. As I read the books, these could be converted to R-134a or other legal refrigerant.
Alas, it is probably more than that to ship it to you.

ParticipantI would be interested in the condenser/receiver from the old pearson system. I don’t really need the rest.
Would you be willing to spllit it up?

ParticipantHi Walter-
Yes, as I’m close to taking the “old” system to the dump for recycling. However, Rich got there first; suggest you talk to him.. Claire and I are going sailing for about a week. After that, I’ll box it up and figure shipping cost.

RichCarterParticipantWalter,
I don’t really need the condenser. I just figured that I’d box it up and leave it in my shed until the day I need it (if ever). If you have a need for it, please go ahead and take it.—
