I’m not sure what the project was. I take it you added the left-hand access hatch and the bottom door, is that correct?

I’m curious about this shot from the inside looking outboard: https://www.pearson424.org/gallery/UNABATED-Refer-Project/IMG_0172
My P.O. closed up a bunch of the refer but I think they just did it by putting some panels inside and did not actually add insulation or remove the old refer liner. Is this picture the original box, i.e., if I started removing stuff I’d find a huge area we’re not using behind my now smaller refer?

The reason I ask is that while I think our smaller refer is pretty close to ideal; I’m also thinking I want to get into all that space back there and use it for something else.

      Thanks,
      -p

      Wow Alan!

That looks really marvelous! I'd love to do that with my box because I can't reach the bottom. I have the 'L' shaped galley.

      I second the wow alan!

How much time did this take you?

I’ve been eyeballing the whole countertop thinking of updating with corian or something… I really like the door in the bottom though, neither one of us can reach the bottom. Well, I can get a beer, but if it falls over I have to climb in, which takes is far too close to ‘exercise’ which is the last thing I want whilst digging for a coldie.

Both the front opening door and the counter top
opening were time consuming winter projects. Because
of the thickness (6 inches) the angles on the door
were critical. I made several prototypes.
The teak was expensive because I used 3/4 inch. It was
nerve racking to cut. Measure a few times, set up the
saw, cut a test piece, think about it for a while,
      then cut.
Then installing the plates, I ruptured my right bicep
tendon. Probably no sailing this summer!.. makes for a
      nice cottage though.
