Replacing galley countertop

Well, we’ve purchased Lady Leanne (1980 424 ketch #135 lying Waikiki) and want to begin the refit process with the galley. Has anyone replaced the countertop material and, if so, what did you use?

We did. Used Formica laminate over existing surface after removing trim. In retrospect, I’d remove entire top, insulate top of box, and use better material, like Corian.

Thanks for the insight. It sounds like it would be an easier job to remove the countertop and then replace the material. Corian sounds like a good move.
