I sailed from Tahiti to Hawaii, via Bora Bora, Penhryn Island and Kiritimati, in the fall of 2010. It was hard on the wind for 2000 miles, with wind out of the NE and E all of the way. If coming from further south and west, like New Zealand or Australia, the usual route is to get your easting in further south along the roaring 40’s and then turn up through the Australs and hopefully as far east as the Tuamotos. That gives a better angle on Hawaii than Tahiti does. However, they wouldn’t be able to provision along the way.

Hi Lee, big hug to Karen and a ruffled pat for Grace.

We are in Grenada, actually in Hartman Bay and having fun checking out these tropical systems. We have another Australian boat beside us who have sailed via Hawaii, who I am sure would provide good info.
Are these guys departing AUS or USA?
Hope you guys are well and got the air con going there in Brunswick.
