ModeratorI’m making copies of the entire pearson site today and will be moving it
off tonight and tomorrow. The mailing list will move to a software
package called Mailman. The forum will stay on BBForum. All those who read this via the mailing list will receive new
subscription notices and will be subscribed en-mass. Mailman also
maintains it’s own archive which is available via the web and has a good
web interface for self-management of subscribing, unsubscribing etc.I hope that I can make the forum move without interruption. ( It should
– as the trial run of moving the database worked ).I expect that mail delivery and web interfaces might be a bit bumpy as
the web learns about where the site has moved to ( as the dns propagates
the ip change ). Generally this takes about a day but may take up to 2
days.In a previous thread, folks wondered what this costs. We’re moving from
$11 / mo (@wolfpaw.net ) to $7 / mo (@ greengeeks.com ). I know that I
could have moved to a less expensive webhosting site much earlier – but
I was lazy and no move is without its headaches. If you would like to
contribute, it would certainly be appreciated. You can either donate by
sending us a personal check or through paypal ( patnn-js.net ) . – pat
