Hello Everyone,
It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, we have been traveling
down from Toronto to Grenada since June 2012 and after we left Florida
the internet kind of sucks. When we do get the internet I still keep
up on all of the chatter from the group and look forward to hearing
about what’s going on with everyone. We have come across a few 424’s
in our travels and quite a lot of people recognise the design, and we
always get good comments on the looks of the 424’s. It’s a very good
live-aboard for what we are doing.
.
I have two questions for the group;
1) What is the transmission oil capacity in the original trannies?
2) The lower shaft coming out of the V drive is rusting. Has anybody
had any experience replacing it and how do I go about getting one? We
are currently in Carriacou Is., Grenada, and would have to get
anything shipped in from the USA.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jack,
The answer to your first question depends on which transmission you have
and the size of the oil cooler installed. If you have a Velvet Drive it
should contain between 1.3 and 1.8 qts plus whatever your cooler contains.Regards,
