      Aloha to All

I recently had to replaced the Sherwood water pump on my w 58 and was told that i should double check the aignmnet (because the way it bolts on allows, for some movement). When i installeld it i just made sure that the pully was located in the same position that it was taken from and bolted it back up. Do i need a special tool for aligning it or can i align it my self by site or??? please reply.

      Hi James,

By eyeball is perfectly ok.  It just has to be pretty close – you'll know if it's wrong because the belt will look twisted and there will be a great deal of wear dust from it.

You should be able to do it by eye. Just make sure the belts align with the pulley.
