ParticipantPete,
I have that same 6 hp Kubota engine. I picked it up from a smashed Highway signboard.
This one has a fan cooled radiator. I would like to marinize mine. Specifically I am looking for a heat exchanger and setup for a water muffler. Where did you find your parts? Did you have them made or did you purchased them?
Also, where are you planning on mounting this beast? I am thinking the lazerette.
Any plans, drawings or pictures would be greatly appreciated.alan

Alan,
I did get the pump exchanged so I am set on that.
Plan to put it in the port lazarette.
I cut the exhaust myself and had a friend TIG it up.
For the heat exchanger, I got a Phasor heat exchanger. I have seen a few on ebay once in a long while but I bought it from the guys in Florida that make the Phasor generators. I turned the hub adapter on the lathe out of steel (6″ diameter rod stock) and the custom pulley out of aluminum. I replaced the “oil pan” with a sheet of 3/8″ aluminum plate and, after making this three times, finally got everything the way I want it. The R30G pump fits into a groove in the plate and runs on a timing belt off of what used to be the shaft one could connect a hand crack starter. I’ll take some more pictures so you can see the other side soon and will post them to the website by and by.Pete

ParticipantPete,
Thanks for the info.
So you using the RG30 for the Freshwater pump, belted to the engine and an electric pump for seawater?
How much $$ was the Phasor Heat exchanger? Do you have a URL for them?
In my afr lazerette, they were some floor boards with some flimsy stringers to attach them to. I was planning on beefing up the stringers and mounting the Kubota acoss them. I figured 150 lbs would not matter too much back there. Although in the port sail locker (lazerette) would offset the weight of the batteries in the starboard side…..but I have a nice shelf in there. Maybe under it?

R30G for seawater. The engine coolant moves by convection. There is no
pump for that. Don’t recall and can’t find what I paid for the
exchanger. Just search on Phasor generators and give them a call.Alan P wrote:

ParticipantOur similar, temporarily defunct DC genset uses same Kubota EA 300. Phasor in FL is also Kubota distributor and a good source for Kubota engine parts which incidently are much cheaper than Westerbeke parts.

ParticipantI am trying to contact the Phasor dealer that shows up when I GOOGLE them but the contact address is NG. Have you a name that I can contact or an E-Mail address?

ParticipantThe reason I asked about the pump was because on your electrical (generator.bmp) it shows a water pump tied to your fuel pump.

ParticipantTry Southeastern power.com both Phasor and Kubota. 954-979-4349.
However they don’t take credit cards, so they hooked me up with Carlos at powerresolutions.com their retail dealer. Same prices and prob. drop shipped. 305-512-1018 http://www.powerresolutions.com.
Google kubota engines and look at their distributer list

Yup,
My mistake. On my first generation version, I was using an electric
pump, but I replaced that with the mechanical pump.Pete
