I had a 12v 35gph Recovery Engineering (PUR) watermaker in my
previous cruiser and LOVED it. When I was outfitting Silverheels,
I found a hardly used PUR 40 for sale at Sailorman in Fort
Lauderdale for around $1K. I got them to send it to the factory
for inspection at my expense (I think it was $200) before I
bought it sight-unseen. It passed, I paid, and it has been
topping off Silverheels’ water ever since. I don’t run it in
harbors, but can often catch rainwater at those times. Between
the watermaker and the rain I almost never have to take on water
from shore. That’s high on my own cruising priority list.Tor

Could you tell where you installed and how you designed your home made water maker. I am glad to hear Tor’s opinion on this. I often hear that the water maker is just too power hungry to be practical
Do you have a link if you found the plan online?
Thanks

Would be glad to help you along. Unfortunately I am cruising in Canada until the 17th. $$ data and cell charges.
When I get back we can chat.
Thanks
