      Tor:

You had asked where I came up with the figure for the wetted surface area, and I couldn’t remember. I found it– it came from an Interlux print out for the 424 from many years ago. They gave the particulars of a boat and estimated how much bottom paint, etc. would be needed.

Thanks, Rodd. I don’t suppose we must necessarily take that number as gospel just because a large paint manufacturer made the estimate, but we might expect they applied some sort of logic to reach their conclusion.

As it turns out it’s now a moot point for me, at least this time around. I bought a discounted 5-gallon can of International antifouling paint (42% cuprous oxide) and will do my best to use it all up. Ought to get at least 3 coats out of it.

Sounds good Tor! Good luck using up the 5 gal. Yes, you should get at least 3-4 coats out of it!!
