ParticipantThe main ceiling light in the main cabin next to the companion way stairs is not working. I checked and there is no voltage here. Does anyone know how this is wired into the lighting system? The power may be supplied from the light circuit over the fridge.
The answer to this will keep me from spending hours chasing wires under the entire ceiling and be much appreciated.

ParticipantI had the same problem with my boat (hull 100). The ceiling fixture had no voltage. Turned out on tracing back that that light was wired to the breaker for running lights. Effect was you would only be able to turn on that light at night. I was so glad to figure it out before I tore apart the ceiling. I assumed it was some FO’s idea but maybe the factory did it.

john stevensonParticipantDan,
On my boat the overhead lights are all on the Port Cabin Lights breaker. The wires run from the light over to the port side edge of the overhead. I think it joins up with the wiring for the light over the stove and then runs aft, around the engine compartment and then to the distribution panel in the hanging locker next to the companionway. If the light over the stove works you may find a loose connection there. On Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 3:02 PM, Jonathan Titus < ()> wrote:

ParticipantDan:
My ceiling panels are easily removable, so I had a look. As John said, the light is on the Port circuit. However, mine connects to the light over my stove (L galley), which would be the light over your fridge, as you thought.
