Check out the Hamilton Ferris PM 125
Works with a smart regulator and a single belt. Make sure the pulleys are in alignment.

    Hi All,
We are based in Yorktown, VA and will be heading to Port Washington, NY, LI the last week of June. Will be spending a few week in P.W. before sailing down the sound to end-up in Newport, RI first weekend Aug. for Jazz Fest. Love to meet-up with other 424 owners anywhere along the way.

Well, I found the maker of my prop shaft lock.
    SeaAir,Inc / Sarns Machine
    Raymond, ME
The “PropLock 2” was made in 1982 and as best as I can tell, the company is long gone.

Today I took the pads to a local machine shop and they will recreate them for about $100.That’s better the having to buy a new locking device.

Thanks everyone for you input. One more project under control.

SV Patricia Bess came with 3 Interstate 4Ds, Two starboard (house), One stern (starting). In the spring of 2016 I replaced them with 3 Universal Power UB-4D (from China), tied together to make up the house bank 600 Ah. I added a Costco group 42 under the berth next to the started motor, as an independent cranking battery.
The batteries are switched to hook the house to the starter if needed.
I have a Honda 2000 generator to charge house bank if i’m on a mooring for any amount of time. All four new bateries cost about $1100. I’ll let you know how this set up works out in a few years.

Prior to owning my 424 I owned a Pearson Alberg 35.
The sea cocks were bolted on with no mushroom through hulls, just the solid glass core exposed. The bolts were countersunk into the hull and the nuts were on the inside.
The bolts would rot a way and the sea cocks stayed on by wishful thinking and luck.
Bronze or plastic mushroom through hulls screwed into matching sea cocks is the way to go.
Bolting would put the heads of the bolts to close to the mushroom head.
I enjoy reading everyone comments on the up keep of the fleet.
