Thanks to everybody, great info. Starting to lean towards dripless shaft seal, a dryer bilge would be a good thing.

interesting to see all the combos, I really am a slo mo kinda guy and could get by with a none planning set up (read lite), but the other, better half feels the need for speed, who am I to argue.

Stopped by and looked at the inflatable catamaran, they were closed but through the window I could see one up on its side, not much clearance, and really wide.

Looks like for us a 9.9 merc and a rib 10 footer will be the way to go.

does anyone have experience with these catamaran dinghys. logically the 2 hull design should go faster with a smaller engine.

of course there has to be a reason these aren’t on more boats, a bit heavy maybe.
there is a dealer here in everett and i want to take a look, a demo would be great. this boat is sold under at least 3 different names, including Dux. But trying to see one is difficult till tomorrow.

Went ahead with 9.6 at UK Halsey. Yes Ms Hasse is quit high as we are getting main, mizzen and strong track for just a bit over her main. as much as I would have liked to stay out of china, just can’t afford the hit.

This is the info back from Fl Marine Tanks

“A fuel tank with the provided specifications would be 80 gallons or two 40 gallon tanks. The tank will be manufactured from .125 aluminum at a cost of $900.00 or $450.00 per 40 gallon tank.”

They require a drawing of the installation, (no problem, have an engineer onboard at all times) and does not include shipping.
I am leaning heavy towards split tank so can do myself without eng removal.
Any advice is always appreciated.

I’ll go with the 15w 40 seems like the cool climate will match up. The engine is run at 1800rpm, on Don’s rec at is about 180-190F on the temp. Seems like the sweet spot. Engine is strong, knock on wood, (plenty of that around here), and hope to get a few more years before the repower.

The fabricators are coming back in the 1200.00 range.

How does that seem to fit ball park, high or low. just right?

should read “for leveling”

I bring it up then attach stainless ratchet strap to d ring, pull that up tight, then pull white line to make it level[/img]

Saw the photos. That is very impressive. The pros are mentioned. Any cons that have come about, now that it is done. I will consider this an option.

Thanks

putting a cargo strap underneath then ratchet tight. this does not get the ding up high enough, there is sag. Then attach to D ring that is back from the bow and a handle to cinch it up tight. It works but a bit of a pain.
Put a couple of u bolts on the transom down low it works fine.

this is a inflatable keel model with fiberglass floor, removeable.

Of course the solution is BOAT, and get a real hard v bottom with built in attachment points.

I did get the St Croix davits and they are doing the job, at least around the sound. Of course one thing leads to another. The dinghy that came with our boat has no purchase points and have finally worked that out. Its a decent rib, just not made for hoisting. about 100 lbs. Actually too light and I had to reduce the purchase so it would drop. Don’t want to leave the engine on.

Have been out cruising the Sound and waiting on the Pro to get back to us with a quote. Would really like to see the option for 95 gallons under the sole. Sound cool. Sorry the pics did not get posted, could see the genset going in though, great idea.

Nothing is going to happen very fast, as we go forward with our plan. May have to wait for the article.
