Participantjust got back from mnf and my team did not win, dang!
thanks for the lesson. While on a broad reach, coming down from Port Townsend we had the mizzen and the genny working for us and moving along on a fair day at 5 n 6 knots it was our first day with the engine off and wee were happy happy. I kept thinking the blocks on the mizzen were there for something but after letting out the mizzen and noticing the backstay was in the way I said no worries cause the genny was doing all the work anyway.
good info and I appreciate the info,

does that work for a pic, sorry,
anyway I have never had an adjustable back stay, understood it to rake the mast for better pointing, but that would surprise me for a cruising ketch.
Must confess my ignorance, am i adjusting the tension on the mizzen to get to the main mast?

ParticipantOk thats good.
Now I will try to make you laugh. Under Life’s little mysterys………..
when you pull the dipstick there is no oil, it is clean, put it back in and there’s the oil, more on one side than the other. Do I need to take a physics class or what.Herbc
ParticipantWe are excited to be owners of the 424 and are looking forward to life aboard. Will definitely have plenty of questions. We have been chilling at the marina here in Blaine, Wa soaking it all in and familiarizing ourselves with the boat and taking care of a few items form the survey, nothing major, just some easy jobs which get me into the diy mode. Tomorrow we plan to do the shake down cruise to Sucia and spend a few nights at anchor.
Stay tuned, I’m sure your support will be called upon very soon.
Thanks again, Patrick for helping us to get underway here at the 424 forum.
