    Hi John
The new V-26 has fitted in easily. I moved the raw water strainer to starboard side as it was close to the V-26 and it is a better run there as my raw water pump is also starboard side of the engine as is the inlet seacock.
I am also not thinking of repowering and replacing the original W58. How have you got on with the Yanmar and which model did you fit ? I also have a velvet drive on the W58. I’m back in the UK this summer and will also look at the Beta set up.
Thanks for your article and help.
    Kind regards

Yes they are UK, I’m going back in April so will contact them. I’m not sure if age and value of the yacht warrants buying a new engine and which of theirs is the best fit.
I have heard very good reports of Beta Marine from others who have repowered.
    Cheers

    Hi Skip
Thanks, I have the Beckson 512 ports. Whilst storing the boat some have leaked and damaged the trim. I’ll measure my cutouts. The damage is in the v- berth and main salon.
    Please email photos.
I’m not sure of costs to send to Caribbean, I’m in Rodney Bay, St Lucia. DHL, FedEx or UPS. I guess I would need weight or volume. Would be happy to pay your time for packing and des patching, if it looks worthwhile. I’ll look into costs of getting teak pieces here.
    Thanks again for your help.
    Kind regards

Thank you very much for your reply.
I agree about Westerbeke and the dealers I.e Hanson very expensive. Which Beta would you recommend ?
I’m from UK though yacht is based in Caribbean.
    Thanks for your help.

does anyone have experience of fitting a direct to steering autohelm on a ketch rigged 424. I have a Navco belt to wheel driven autohelm which does not seem up to the job.

    Thanks for your help.
