.shape {behavior:url(#default#VML);}Tell me Iâm stupid but…….for the last 5 years Iâve simple put a large
pair of channel locks on my shaft to keep it from free wheeling on long
passages. I put the engine key securely on the channel locks so thereâs never
any starting the engine with the shaft locked. I still have the factory brake in
place but like so many of you said; no parts availability. Cheeeep

ParticipantHi PearsonitesâMOJOâ is a 1981 Ketch hull number 184. Normally docked in Oriental, NC but
spending the winter months in Beaufort, NC for a change of scenery. I bought her
in Brunswick, Ga. about 10 years ago she was named âICONâ when I bought her.

ParticipantDavid on mine he just plated the outside, the gear teeth were not
affected.JackThanks
Jack. Now to find a plater in my area. Could be a trick, though Iâm
betting Pensacola has someone. Since it was successful in your case, I
assume itâs possible to plate just the outside so that the gear teeth on the
inside are not affected. I had some plating done on a bumper some years
ago, but am not very familiar with the process.

ParticipantHi DavidI took my Lewmars apart about 5 years ago and had them re plated about 5
yrs ago here locally in N.C. Like yours all the chrome had virtually flaked off.
The guy charged me $75.00 for the pair and they have held up really well with an
occasional waxing.Best Regards / Jack / âMOJOâ in Oriental,NCCalico Jack

ParticipantSorry I deleted half the text of my post ! Not enough coffee ! I replaced
the fixed ports with units manufactured in Canada, the company name is BOMON,
yes very close to the other port mfg.name. The long fixed were almost exact
replacements for the original. Very little sanding and adjusting. They are very
high quality and Iâve had no issues of leaking since they were installed. If you
go to http://www.deatonyachts.com you can see
photos of the ports installed on my boat, itâs for sale and has a number of
exterior photos. I canât remember the exact pricing but they were competetive.
BOMON has a great web site.Best Regards / JackCalico Jack

ParticipantI’ll add my 2 cents to the thread. About 5 years ago I replaced all my opening ports fwd with NFM. I searched for a long time for all the useual replaements for my fixed. I ended up buying the long fixed from a company in Canada called Bomon (very close name to the other one). I was greatly pleased with their product and I am still delighted. I can’t remember the pricing but they were right inline with everything else. Great ports.
