I installed one last December, wish I had done it 10 yrs ago! It works
great, I even got rid off my brown paper bag hat with eye holes. I used to put
it on when I docked in a congested marina!
Deaton Yacht Service in Oriental ,NC was the service yard I used for the
installation. They are an authorized dealer and very familiar with the
    unit.

    Hi David:
I can’t imagine a more streamlined design, especially vs the conventional
standard of a 10” to 12” hole drilled through the bow of your boat. What is more
streamlined than a bullet/ torpedo shape? I honestly have not experienced
a noticeable 1/2  knot decrease in boat speed, under sail or power. Even if
I did have a 1/2 knot speed loss the trade off for fantastic maneuverability
would be more than worth it to me.

    Rick:
I installed the same unit. Mine is a little aft of the water tank bulkhead.
I had the yard do the actual install and glass work and I did all the electrical
work. The battery is in the space between the water tank and the bulkhead. I
have the parallel switch in the “V” seat slot. As you said I have had it act a
little slow in high winds. I also would never go back to docking without a
    thruster.

Rick – I also used the 12V to 24V converter. My boat is coming out of the
water next week. I’ll try to get some photos posted. I’m anxious to see if it
has any barnacle fouling since install in Dec.

I really don’t see any drop in my sailing/powering  performance. I
don’t see the 1/2 knot drop, It’s got to be insignificant. The Thruster bullet
shape vs a conventional 12” hole in your bow area
convinced me to go this route. “Your mileage may vary”.

I just did mine. I installed the automatic pump in a box from West Marine.
I made a frame and mounted it just fwd of the trans pan. I did learn that thing
has to be darn near completely level for it to work properly. Getting a new
drain hose to the elbow under the shower cost me a pint of knuckle blood which I
promptly replaced with Pusser’s laceration medication! Good luck with it.

Did you and I work a co brokerage deal together years ago? Maybe on a
Channel Cutter? I owned the brokerage side of Deaton Yachts in Oriental for 21
years. That business sure has changed, I’m happy to be retired and out of
    it.
