ParticipantI saw the butyl tape testimonials and I have also found this product fairly easy to use and very effective for bedding all kinds of hardware on deck. I found the stuff at Princess Auto in Canada (discount stuff of all kinds) which I think is similar to harbour freight in the U.S., the price is similar in $ Cdn for each roll instead of two.Sent from my iPad

ParticipantI had the whole salon floor sagging basically about an inch or so midway near the centre of both settees. I used a floor jack on top of the keel to eliminate the sag and then inserted a piece of 4 inch square pvc fence post vertically to maintain the elevation. I had cut some addition pvc into an angle shape and inserted it between the four inch vertical and the horizontal “floor joist” to distribute the load. I installed these supports both fore and aft of the mast and have not had any negative consequences yet. I can try to get a picture later this week if you would like.

ParticipantHello all,
I recall early in our boating lives, while I was drooling over some new gadget or other at a boat show and bemoaning over the high sticker price a gentleman beside me said “you have to get used to it as the only thing cheap on a sailboat is the ownerâ.I resemble that remark so I am also very grateful for access via this web based forum to accomplished craftspeople with knowledge and experience offering free advice on when it is wise to spend the money. Thanks all,Jim
