Several 424 owners have installed mast pulpits. I installed a pair back in 2018 from Railmakers. Search this site for mast pulpit and you will find several good leads, including recent purchases. You should be able to get specs and fabricator info.

I had a similar problem with our Westerbeke 63.
If the engine was cold, the single start battery started the engine without complaint.
If the engine was hot/warm, the single start battery complained and frequently wouldn’t turn it over fast enough to start. If I combined the house bank with the start bank… bang.. the engine quickly turned over and started.
I went thru many of the same steps you’ve taken without any improvement.
I paralleled a second start battery and haven’t had a single issue since…Rick

I’m a little confused. Do you have a Seahawk Autostream FEATHERING propeller or a Seahawk Slipstream FOLDING propeller?
Rick
EclipserduggerParticipantBen,
I had the PSS shaft seal on our last boat, an ODay 34. We installed a Tides Marine shaft seal on Eclipse several years ago. Very happy with it. I think it is a more robust design.

I installed an Autostream on Eclipse 11 years ago. I did purchase a SS shaft with the correct thread/taper. Absolutely zero issues. Many sailors in the Chesapeake area seem to use Maxi Props … and it seems they must regularly send them off for a rebuild.
I replaced an 18″ fixed prop with an 18″ Autostream. We have a Westerbeke 63 hp engine. I bought mine from H&H Prop in Salem Mass. They recommended 18×9… I have adjusted the pitch and I’m thinking it’s more like 18×11.
I called Martec today regarding the grease fitting. Gary was very helpful.

The Fly-In sounds good.
Any word from your friends at Zahniser’s regarding ability to reserve balls in their mooring field?

We would be interested. Currently we have plans to be cruising the Bay during the month of June(ish) 2020… The spots you mentioned are usually on our itinerary. Solomons would be a great location.Rick and Andy Dugger

I replaced our fixed prop with a Seahawk Autostream from Jim Blanchard at H&H Prop in New England several years ago (800-325-0117). We have had no issues with it. Unlike MaxProp it can be rebuilt by owner should the internal parts need replacing.Rick
EclipserduggerParticipantI removed the engine driven cold plates 12 years ago and installed a Frigoboat 12v air cooled system. It has served us well.
Rick
EclipserduggerParticipantThere are threads on the mast pulpits that include vendors… search ‘mast’…
Mast pulpits are well worth the money and effort.

Thanks the picture was helpful. Your aft bunk is the same as ours.
We experience the same issues getting into and out of the V berth.
Sounds like you have a great sleeping solution that works for you.
FWIW the TuftTopper people send you a template and make it to fit whatever configuration you have (V Berth, Saloon, aft berth, etc)
Thanks again

Nice job!
When convenient, would you please take/send a pic from the door to the galley looking aft at the bed. How wide is you aft berth? My Admiral thinks that, not counting the addition, it doesn’t look as wide as ours.
Also – I highly recommend a product called Tuft Topper (http://tuftedtopper.com/)… we were unhappy and prepared to go the commercial mattress route in the V berth until we bought this product. It eliminated any feeling of the cracks between foam sections and prevents bottoming out… all around really improved our sleeping experience. Everyone we know who has purchased this product has really liked it, including a couple who live-aboard.
Regards
Rick
