ParticipantFirst I feel like I must preface this with a disclaimer that I can be a times a glutton for punishment, but I am going to use Ephiphanes gloss. 1st 2 coats 50% diluted then 5 full. There is just enough wood to make the boat sparkle but not enough to make it overwhelming. I don’t have the wood on the cockpit coatings to deal with. The wood is coming up very nicely after the bleaching and I’d like to give my girl some new makeup. I’m in the water so the boat is dancing a little which relieves some of the monotony and makes me imagine she likes the attention. I see your from New England, rented a house in Port Clyde last summer, loved Camden.

ParticipantThanks, will experiment with the wipe on in some inconspicuous area to see how much it darkens the paneling. I have a lot on my plate now. Am doing the exterior teak which had the old style cetol on it and turned hideous. Took it off with a heat gun very easily and am using oxalic acid to bleach it clean. I am using a slurry applied with a green pad and allowed to set up almost dry then rinse it very thoroughly. Seems to be working OK with no observable side effects on the surface of the wood

ParticipantThanks to all for the suggestions. Decided to go with 4 Garhauer chocks/cleats. One on each end of the Genoa Track. Allan #206 Curve of Time

ParticipantI could do late July or Aug. In Rock Hall (actually Swan Creek)which is a great place in and of itself. Also Magothy Creek or Bodkin Creek good places. Shaking out my new crew, wife and 6 and 9 yo girls. Allan #206 Curve of Time

ParticipantThe cheapest I’m finding the 70-75 is Jamestown Dist. for $99. anyone find a better deal. I like the idea of having one on each end, does create more options. Thanks Allan #206 Now “Curve of Time”

ParticipantWasn’t aware that #206 had such a history. She is in excellent shape and I will be adding to here charm. The PO sailed her extensively up and down the East Coast and the Caribbean. Name change to “Curve of Time”. Thanks for the information. Where are you now and what are you sailing if I may ask. Allan

ParticipantCalicojack, thanks for the tip. It worked out great, used a green pad to remove the paint with a little toulene to dissolve the more stubborn parts and then washed it all down with a solution of TSP. Transome is in full sun in the pm and the faint shadowing might just bleach out. Got smoe old stickers and the glue with the toulene and transom looks great. Allan.

ParticipantThat sounds like a plan, will be at the boat on Sunday, will let you know. Thanks. Hoping “Easy Reach” soon becomes “Curve of Time”

ParticipantThanks, wasn’t planning to gelcoat over the paint but would have preppped the transom appropriately. Just didn’t want to run the risk of two dissimilar colors. I wonder if the F 50 number might be the ticket.

ParticipantThat’s the same person I got the email from. Thanks again, but not ready for a gallon, thought I could get a quart of an color match.
