ParticipantToo busy with non boat projects. Getting the house and boats in Georgia ready to sell and move full time to O’ahu. How did we ever collect all this stuff?

ParticipantThanks for getting back to me on the V birth cabinet. Visually, A agree that your approach fits in better with the other cabinetry.
I noticed on your blog that you removed the dining table. What are your plans with this?

ParticipantIf you don’t ask the dumb questions, you never get smarter. So, does anyone have thoughts about installing a flexible bladder tank back in that area? No problems yet. Just anticipating options.

ParticipantAloha Herb: Just did a full bottom job on our boat. We replaced old zincs with two on the shaft, following the PO’s placement.
I installed a new PSS shaft seal on our boat, replacing a first generation unit that had lived a full life. I wouldn’t go to packing as it’s more to fool with and it lets water in the boat.

ParticipantYour idea sure beats trying to “shop vac” the remaining water. Do you then pump the water into a shower sump for directing it overboard?

ParticipantAloha Patrick: I’ve also eyed up that dead space on the v berth as a great cubbie location. I just considered covering the the space with one louvered door that opens to port with wider shelf facings along the floor and the mid level shelf. Any particular reason for mounting 2 drop down doors on a fixed face? It really does look good by the way.

ParticipantWe’re in the process of changing the name of our 424 and I used the paint remover sold by West. The stuff worked like a charm an doesn’t harm gelcoat. I removed the remaining raised outline under the paint with acetone. Not a whisper of the old name left.

ParticipantThanks Quent:
Two owners have responded that their W 58 runs at 50 PSI. This confirms that mine is normal at 50.

ParticipantAs I spend more time on my boat and get into the cracks and crevasses I’ve found another mystery. The port lazarette has what looks like 4 bolts mounted with the heads on the inside of a piece of wood that is glassed in just below the rim. Something was obviously mounted there on the exposed “studs”. I’m just curious what was mounted in there if it is original with the boat.

ParticipantA question for all you stalwart W 58 owners: what is the normal operating oil pressure? I’ve looked everywhere, but can’t seem to find it.

ParticipantLady Leanne had her eyebrows trimmed off several years ago. The PO filled the holes and gel coated (?) over them so there is no trace of them. I believe that he also replaced the teak hand holds with stainless ones at the same time. The boat has a much cleaner look without them, based upon my view of other boat’s pix.

ParticipantYes, the big question is will it fit? I do like those big GPH numbers though. I’ll know more when I’m back aboard. There is a lot of data for the pump on the website.
