ParticipantI don’t remember what I paid for the handrails but I do remember that they weren’t too expensive. I had removed the headliner and that made installation very easy.

ParticipantI removed the teak handrails and the teak eyebrow. The teak handrails had worn thin and the eyebrows were a source of water leaks. I had a local shop make new handrails with backing plates. In a pinch I could use the handrails to pull the boat if needed. I am very pleased with the result.

ParticipantJohn,
I was surprised by your statement too. Any time someone delivers on time, under budget, with a very good product including a few little extras at no additional charge I’m happy.Lee

ParticipantPearsons in general and 424s in particular, have an exceptional reputation amongst sailors. Knowledgeable sailors (well they they sound knowledgeable) universally describe Pearsons as being a very well built excellent sailing vessel.
Kinda makes ya feel good.

ParticipantBob,
I’d like to know just what you had to do to make the repair.
I have hull number 43.Lee

ParticipantThe water is definitely oozing up through the hull.
My greatest fear is that this portion of the hull has been compromised in some way. But looking back I believe the hull has been leaking since we bought the boat in 2006.
Bob Fine seems to think I should not worry about it.

ParticipantNo rain. I can see exactly where the water is penetrating the interior of the hull. I sat and watched it ever so sloooooly create a tiny puddle. What scares me if the fact that I don’t know where the water is penetrating the exterior of the hull.

ParticipantYes, I am. Not much but any amount is too much.

I was talking about the deep sump area aft. I’ve been off the boat for about three hours and there was maybe 5-10 drops of water down there. Not much, but I think any leak through the hull is too much. I would really appreciate any suggestions on what I should do to fix this situation?

ParticipantThe only brand name I recall was US. I’ll back to the house and see if I can find a name. I’ll get back to you.

ParticipantI bought Army surplus jerry cans for my extra water and they are great. They’re black so they heat up the water. You’ll need to find an Army Surplus store.
