The step looks to be aluminum?

Tor, Great idea! Another item on my ‘do’ list.

At some point I have to pull/raise my mizzen for rewiring. I assume with very loose stays I should be able to rock the mizzen loose from it’s step. Anyone care to comment?

OK, it looks like at some point the mizzen will have to be unstepped to bore a second hole. I still don’t have a clue why Pearson screwed a wooden board to the support.

Lucky guy. If a worker dove the boat in Ft. Lauderdale cutoff canal he’d have to ‘feel’ for the straps and the prop.

    Sorry about the damage.

Every time I get SHAY hauled, I have the lift operator stop for 30 seconds after the straps are first tight. Jump aboard, spin the propshaft from inside the boat, give him the “all clear” and walk away. This saves the “breath holding” when hauling.

Pete — Start with Xantrex, 800-670-0707. The Freedom 25 has two circuit boards (power supply & rectifier pack). I replaced both several years ago. Get the parts by calling rec. vehicle dealers, as they are common in that application. I made the mistake of equalizing my house batteries and not providing LOTS of ventilation in the locker. The Freedom 25 fans sucked in acidic gases from the batteries and coated the circuit boards. They failed.

Your problem may be with the Link 2000. Mine started acting flaky. I found a blown capacitor & replaced it. It worked, but occasionally ‘got confused’. I replaced the Link 2000 and everything’s fine. Xantrex may be able to help you focus on which unit is defective. If not, try calling larger recreational vehicle dealers and talk with a tech. Good luck. Hank S. SHAY #80

Don’t forget to carefully inspect your chainplates. If yours are original they most-likely should be replaced. Hank S. Shay #80

More trivia: teak wood logs sink, making harvesting very expensive.

Yea, it’s a small sump with a float switch/pump. No more manual pumpouts. Small size=little standing water. Can be moved/relocated easily.

Hey gang. I just “re-discovered” the 424 list after being absent for a while. On SHAY, I’ve abandoned the shower sump by installing a self-contained pump, float switch, strainer a friend gave me (I think it was made by Attwood). Both the shower and AC condensate drain into it, and water is pumped overboard automatically as it fills. It holds about 3 quarts. Works great.
