Aloha: To all interested that have responded to my W58 parts announcement:

    -I am located in Honolulu
-I expect all buyers to pay
    for shipping
    -I wii begin disassembly 1/11

I have received several requests for parts (many requests for the same ones). I guess the fair way to sell those parts with multiple bidders would be by best offer. I am organizing buyers by part and will provide all interested with the best bid received. The buyer can then make their purchase decision. Note that I’m not expecting to get rich here. I just want to get rid of all at a fair price.

Please direct all comments and questions to my email: dan.kalinowski@comcast.net

My double roller anchor platform has the center angle iron built into the headstay. I believe a PO had a piece of diamond patterned stainless plate cut to shape and welded into place on top of the platform frame. It’s a handy foot rest and I believe in increases rigidity.

It’s so hard to find a jug with a large enough opening.

Used a bottle for #1when on the hard with a bottom job. My wife may not be OK with it. Perhaps if I painted flowers on the jug………

I added a snap in louvered door to the left side of the head sink door and had an access hatch cut into the new oorian countertop that I installed. We use it as a handy, voluminous dirty clothes hamper.

The PO eliminated our forward sink and sealed off the thru hull. I reinstalled one, but didn’t want to fool with the thru hull, so I ran a line back to the shower sump pump. Works fine with no back up problems. The head sink still is slow, but not enough of a bother for me to fool with.

Hurricane Iselle has lost most of her punch as the Big Island volcanos got in the way. Heavy rain and sustained winds of 40k here in Keehi Lagoon. Cozy down below as the boat takes the wind in stride. Of course, she is experienced as she rode out boisterous Iniki at anchor with the PO on board a decade or two ago. The cloud formations are amazing!

I’m off to join my live aboard son for a month or so on our 424 ketch outside of Honolulu. Just in time to meet the denouemont for Iselle and the up and coming Julio. As Dirty Harry once said: “Do you feel lucky today? Well do ya….. punk?”

I believe I have almost a full set of sockets down there somewhere. Hoping they’ll eventually roll out for rescue.

I’ve been considering NuTeak synthetic teak and holly. No mess, durability and easy installation. Anyone familiar with this product? I’ve seen it used on topside decks. Looks great.

Interesting Quent: My 424 (ketch) is listed as a 1980 and the hull is #135. Yours is a1981 with hull #132. Go figure. Thanks for your informative posts over the years. We all cruise on. Good luck.

Tor: I replaced my original last year with one that fit the same mounting exactly. I’m sure it was the same manufacturer (Henderson?) and didn’t cost that much. My boat is a 1980 and the old pump had to be an original. I replaced all of the tubing/fittings to it at the same time. I’m not aboard right now (in JoJa) to conform the manufacturer. Remember, pump capability is directly proportional to motivation!
