ModeratorIt’s done. It’s been done. And I continue to update it.
We just need to get it on the web. My apologies for not making it more of a priority; you’re right that you should be able to pull it up when you encounter another 424. I’ll make sure it gets done soonest. In the meantime:
Time In A Bottle, 1980 Ketch, Hull #112, owned by Joe Shimkonis (last we knew…entry not updated in the year I’ve been the keeper), USCG #1041078, Home Port: Oriental, NCEvan

ModeratorThanks David. Like I said, just sussing out options.
Cheers,

ModeratorDavid,
Where did you find a rebuilt W58? And do they buy cores? I’m on the fence about what to do about/with Revery’s engine…just cataloging options at this point. Thanks!Evan

ModeratorWhat is unfortunate is that the forum providers dropped the functionality in the first place. But alas, time and technology march on. I, for one, REALLY appreciate the effort (and cash) you’ve put into finding a way to make it work for us. Kudos.
All, I encourage everyone to keep following and posting on the web version. The knowledge in this community is priceless and it would be a shame for it to go to waste.
I’ll definitely be more active with questions, observations, and tales of our refit starting in November. I hope others will continue to do the same.Cheers,
Evan

ModeratorPaul,
We haven’t set it up yet.
I’d like to get it done soon, though.Revery
ModeratorAlan,
I’ve got a line on four Ocean 60 flanged, brand new, $1200 plus shipping from SoCal. Interested in splitting the set with me if they’re still available?Evan

ModeratorThanks for the update, Ron! I’ve got Patricia Bess updated in the database. She’s the sister ship of our Revery (#219) and it’s nice to see she has a new home.
Welcome to the group. We’ve all been relatively quiet lately but hopefully it will pick up again soon. I know I’ll be posting quite a bit as I’m moving onto Revery full time in November and will be doing a fairly major refit. π

ModeratorPaul,
How’d the reworked pulpits fit? After this pesky hurricane passes, I’ll be ordering Revery’s set but wanted to make sure they had the design straightened out. If you have them installed, did you get any good pictures? π
We hope everyone is out of Irma’s path. As it looks now, Revery will have to ride through a Cat 3 hit. She’s as set as she can be, so it’s just finger crossing at this point. Our thoughts are with everyone in her path.

ModeratorHey Ewan. How’d the motor fit in the v-drive space? I’m hoping it worked…about ready to pull the trigger on the QuietTorque 20.
Hope all is well!

ModeratorPatrick,
Disregard the last bit in my reply. I found where you had provided details, but I didn’t update the database. Oops!Evan

ModeratorPatrick and Amy,
Wish I could answer your questions, but we’re looking at the same two models ourselves.
We have a hard top on Revery and davits, so Tor Pinney’s setup of the Auto-Helm would work best for us. BUT…the davits might go away and I think the Hydrovane would work even with our hard top. So it’s all up in the air still (pun intended).
I’ll be watching this thread with interest. Also, I completely missed that you purchased Findriddy. If I may, I’ll be contacting you off list to ask some questions in order to update the owner’s database.
Welcome to 424 ownership!Evan and Debra Morgan

ModeratorMy email replies don’t seem to be showing up on the board…
Hadn’t heard of it until now.
I watched the videos (Part 1 and Part 2) and wasn’t impressed with the finish. The biggest surprise was not tipping it, and the results matched what I imagined they would be…orange peel. Granted, it’s a HELL of a lot easier to apply than most paints but I wouldn’t be happy with the finish. But that’s just me.
Caveat…we’ve only ever painted the cockpit and deck (roll and tip), not the topsides. We used Pettit EasyPoxy for that project and were fairly happy with it.Evan

ModeratorGreat work, Ewan. Oh, the memories of doing all but two of my stanchions, the mast step (deck stepped), and entire forepeak on our C&C. I take comfort in knowing that we only have 4 to do on Revery. ha!
All in all, it’s really an easy (but tedious) job. Curious, though, what shears did you use? I found that a good quality kitchen scissors worked fine…just threw them away afterward.

ModeratorIt must be nice to live in a real yachting area. I had 3 stainless fabricators turn down the job in Melbourne, FL. Still haven't gotten a new one…EvanRevery -
