ModeratorRick,We have experience with Kiwigrip but not on our 424. We loved it on our C&C…Easy to apply, very little prep work, you can easily vary the roughness depending on which area you're coating (less on cockpit seats, more on the side decks, etc.), and it's very durable. The only downside is the price. Plan on using more than you think to get enough coverage. We definitely plan on doing Revery this fall.EvanReveryRevery
ModeratorThom,If it truly is Kiwigrip, repairs are easy, even for us lazy types!Clean the area (denatured alcohol wipe down is what I do), tape the edges, slop on some new Kiwigrip, roll it with their roller cover (provided with each can purchased), pull the tape immediately, and you're done. The only caveat is that the color may not match due to UV fading. Me, I don't care…it's a cruising yacht, not a showpiece. ๐Hope that helped.EvanยReveryRevery
ModeratorDan and Ewan,
We’re in the infancy of considering a repower. I know what I’d do if we go diesel, but would to pick your brains re: electric and the systems you chose. You up for some discussion? โบ
Thanks!Evan

ModeratorRevery is being refit with the same setup as Rick has. The PO hadn’t used the shower in years, and had removed the pump. Shout out to Pete Dubler for recommending that simple solution to us (and finding a steal on a whale gulper pump for me).

ModeratorWe have the same Harken as David’s on Revery. It came with the boat, looks older than Moses, but works fine. If, when we inspect the rigging soon, we decide it needs to be replaced, I doubt we’d go with Harken. Mostly because if cost, but also because it has an enclosed drum. But that’s not to say it isn’t a great unit…it’s a Harken after all.

ModeratorWell, that was easy. Grand total of 1 hour, including the run to WM (which, of course, didn’t have the bus bar I wanted). Now the circuit is (more) ABYC compliant and I can sleep better tonight. That’s an “after” picture…forgot to take a “before”. Originally, all the greens and whites ran to the bus on the left.
Forgive the rest of the janky, yet original, wiring and connectors. They’re solid and I’m not ready for a complete rewire yet.Revery
ModeratorAnd now to answer my own question (coffee and some more reading helped).
ABYC says that neutral and safety grounding should ONLY be tied at the power source. Period. End of story.
So it’s off to worst marine to get another bus bar so I can separate the two. Easy solution that will make things a tad more safe (he says hoping that the installer followed color coding).
Anyone dissent? โบRevery
ModeratorPaul,
Yep, still interested in the pulpits! ๐Thanks,

ModeratorPaul,
Thanks again for heading this up! Question on the rails…is that per rail or per set? If it’s per rail, I’ll have to pass…which is ok since our teak ones are fine.Evan Morgan

ModeratorHmmm…I replied twice to this thread via email and they didn’t post. So let’s try from the forum…

ModeratorPaul,
Thanks! And on a side note, I’d be interested in hand rails as well…if you’re amenable to me jumping on board.Evan

ModeratorBen,The ball just started rolling yesterday with Paul's inquiry to the group. One of us (who want pulpits) will need to take the lead on updating the quote, etc.EvanRevery
ModeratorPaul,
I’ll do a deep search tonight, but I think the info is still here.
If you’re willing to head this up, I’d like a set made as well…and I’m sure there are some other “new” owners that might be interested (or they should be lol)Evan

ModeratorAmen, Ken! We only had it as a condition of our partnership with the PO. After this year expires, we're done. Self-insured is the only way to go IMHO.Revery
ModeratorDavid,That's horrible! We go through Atlass Insurance in Cocoa…It's a Progressive policy, but at a competitive rate. About $1200 including Bahamas. YMMV of course.Contact info: -
