ParticipantSave yourself a whole lot of hassle. Scrap the fuel sender. The senders are pretty much linear and the tanks have an odd shape so it’s never going to be accurate.
Use this no fail method.
Fill the tank. Note engine hours.
Engine uses .75 gallons per hour if you keep it below 2200 rpm. More rpms more fuel. Look up fuel to rpm curve for your engine mine is a w58.
That gives you a 25 percent safety factor. I’ve used this method throughout the Caribbean and Bahamas and works perfectly. Usually right on the money.

ParticipantSometimes cruising is more than just waiting for the right wind to sail ( and from the right direction).
The need to move your boat from adverse conditions…. high winds, storms etc, necessitate a reliable power source not just for speed and power but for distance.
I can think of a many timesI was glad I had such a source in the Caribbean and Bahamas.
Waiting for batteries to charge or an under powered boat would have had severe consequences.Just my 2 cents

ParticipantMy shelf is glasses in at the fwd end. And all along the bottom.
I pounded for week to Bermuda and that never happened.
BTW. Hull is solid glass. Thick solid glass.

ParticipantThanks, I realized I needed the 60 after I got home and looked up the specs. Looks like a drop it. Flanged with no trim kit.
Looking for a good price now.

ParticipantNot to steal the thread, but make the sump and pump last longer without “foul-ups”, do not use bar soap. Body wash only. The same stuff that makes the soap into a bar stays inside the pump and just makes one big gunky mess which will eventually kill the pump and plug up all your hoses and fittings.AlanUnabatedunabated
ParticipantI am trying to get a feel for what brand and model of roller furling other 424 owners are using.
Brand and model would be appreciated along with your opinion of it. Would you replace it for something else or buy it again.
Thanks
Alan

ParticipantWhat exactly needed to be changed on the new heat exchanger. Could you have rerouted the hoses?

ParticipantI installed the T valve so I can decide which tank the product water. Therefore the product water goes directly to the tank. remember you’ll need product water to run back through the pump when you’re done. That same tap you use to get product water out of you’ll need to test the water before you start pumping it into the tank.Hope that makes sense.Alanunabated
