    Hi Barb

Generally in our case, it isn’t the tank but rather the over fill that
drips over the floor.. The overflow lines drain inside the hull. On
our boat you can see the small tube coming off the tank through the
forward cutout (along with the bigger fill tube).

One way to check (once the floor is dry) is to fill the tank via the
inspection port so you know you haven’t overfilled and then see if you
    get water ..

I have a leak coming from the portside water tank, I believe. It is
dripping on the portside under the floor boards near the mast. I am
trying to get to the tank on that side but it looks like I might not
be able to get to easily. Anyone have problems with thier tanks
leaking? or hoses ? I just filled the tanks from the bow and
overfilled of course. When I have done that in the past the water just
runs into the bilge and runs into sink. But never a leak afterwards. I
have looked at the inspection hole and no leak there and have a cut
out forward to look at hose going into the tank itself and another
smaller hose(clear) going somewhere forward, but I see no leaks. Under
the floor there is a clear hose going forward, I am assuming to the
bow tank. I can only see so far on that one. I am clueless on system
of course hoping some one could give me more info on this list.

We had a local carpenter make the battens up for both the v-berth and the aft cabin.. It doesn't take someone with equipment very long to make them. Some day we'll even get around to putting them in.

I like the idea of the ash battons, and since you have to put in mounting points, may as well make them structural.

    I am thinking vertical foamcore strips, 1/2″ X 2″.

I just searched the forum for the source for ash battens but that discussion was before Pat started the forum. Does anyone know of a good source?

You can read everything going on and respond to any of these emails by going to the bulletin board at:

and clicking on the Mailing List link

If the bulletin board suits your purpose then you should unsubscribe from the list so that you do not continue to receive the email version of list.

Where did you get the number 255 ? I think it was closer to 220. Our boat, hull number #178 was built in 1982. hull 170 is listed as 1981 and hull 172 was listed as 1982. I have Spray listed as 1981.

You can tell alot about it from the official hull number on the stbd stern. ( from Dan Pfieffer’s Pearson Pages http://pearsoninfo.net )

    PEA = Pearson
    58 = model indicating it’s a 424
    XXX = the “hull number”
MYY = Yr built or Model Year
    X = build Month

    Model Year
This is the model year of the boat. It is not necessarily the production year. The model year runs from August of the previous year to July of the year given. I don’t know what the M is for.

    Build Month
This is the month of the model year the boat was built. It starts with A for August and runs to L for July alphabetically.

    A August
    B September
    C October
    D November
    E December
    F January
    G February
    H March
    I April
    J May
    K June
    L July

    You’re welcome.

Someday maybe I’ll get around to hitting the group up for support. At this point, however, it just seems like more work. 😉

I have to admit that I use pearson424.org site as a guinea pig for stuff I have to do in the real world.. and then I never get around to really finishing it. (example: the 404 page is real mess right now)

It happens – its a problem with this type of gallery software. Every once in while (~ every 2 wks) I go and clean them out.

There is a relatively significant amount of moderation overhead to maintaining these kinds of things and moderation creates delays in posting.

The list doesn’t allow posting from addresses it doesn’t know. The list is pretty dumb about addresses as upper and lower case changes are enough to screw it up. When people have noticed delays there, it was generally because I hadn’t released the email yet.

At the onset of the forum, I have chosen to be heavy handed on the moderation side again. Forums are notorious for spam issues and hacking and they are more public than a private email list where the address is not posted anywhere. All mail coming in and going out of the forum has to be approved, so if I’m not staring at my computer (which I am much of the day), the mail is delayed.

I thought email from the forum would just flow through to the list if the addresses were the same. Another issue that I’m seeing is duplicate posting between the forum and the maillist ( if an email comes from the list the forum tries to send it back to the list ). So it turns out that email in both directions have to be approved.

All that said, I expect the delays will shorten as I tweak settings and we get a few more moderators

ps I’ve been removing the previous posts from the email that comes from list – while i seem to have found the code to remove most email addresses my email address keeps coming through.

    Take a look at:
    https://www.pearson424.org/bb2forum/index.php
    Click on Mail List link

You will see a mirror of this list. In other words, every email we send
will be posted online. Should someone prefer that format – they could
post in the forum instead of through and it would flow through to the
mail list as well. It will also be a fast way to see what’s going on if
you happen to be someplace away from your email.

    From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_forum: An *Internet forum*
is a web application for holding discussions and posting user generated
content. Internet forums are also commonly referred to as *Web forums*,
*message boards*, *discussion boards*, *(electronic) discussion groups*,
*discussion forums*, *bulletin boards*, /*fora*/ (the Latin
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin> plural) or simply *forums*. The
terms “forum” and “board” may refer to the entire community or to a
specific sub-forum dealing with a distinct topic. Messages within these
sub-forums are then displayed either in chronological order
    <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronological_order> or as threaded
    discussions <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Threaded_discussion>.

I don’t believe (at this point) that anything additional will happen in
the forum. You don’t need to ever look at the forum if you prefer email.
