I use it for engine and vee. My tranny takes type iii. It’s like

Thanks guys for your advice on this, but we live in Seattle and our boat is parked right on the Puget Sound. I can’t in good conscience dump a bunch of bleach directly into the Sound. I see so many of our dock neighbors cleaning their boats with Clorox softscrub and it makes me cringe. I think Patrick has found an excellent article as a viable eco-friendly option. Here is the link if anyone is interested. http://www.ehow.com/how_7771_clean-rvs-water.html
I will let you all know after we try it how it has worked for us. I hope that if it is a viable option that you all try it too.

I formed my own plywood in place with thickened West and 1/8″ strips of poplar, then screwed into them with chromed brass roundhead wood screws. You can use 1/2″ dow corning hard siding style foam in the interstices. This will also work in those small spots. Hint: For battens, use something a little stiffer than 1/4″ teak plywood. That’s fine for panels, tho. Also, teak ply costs about the same as ash. Use solid ash to save ducats.-adam

This question is mostly for Pete regarding the addition of the storage area in the V-berth and the battens you installed on Regina Oceani. Also, did you add any insulation between the furring strips?
I am interested in turning the V-Berth shelf into storage as you have done. I see that you have mimicked the look and feel like in the Aft Berth. How did you go about making the storage panel fronts to look just like the ones in the Aft Berth? I am thinking of something on a smaller scale. Perhaps something like installing slider doors just like in the galley and head with a simple track. I figure this will maximize space utilization and ease access to our clothing and other stored items.

We also have exposed hull areas that are too small for battens and I was thinking of just finishing some ¼ Ash plywood and screwing it or velcroing it directly to the hull. These areas do not support any load and are purely for “finishing” up the area. I don’t want to epoxy or permanently attach anything to the hull just in case we need to remove it one day. (Ie: the current porthole mess we are currently dealing with today) What do you think of this idea? Do you have any recommendations? I am a little concerned about the Velcro idea as we are planning on heading to the tropics and so the sticky backing on the Velcro may just melt off the hull.

    Thanks,

While you’re thinking about that, a little vegetable oil in the manual pooper keeps the parts lubed and the seals healthy. Vinegar and oil. I don’t add them at the same time because putting salad dressing in the wc subtly disturbs me.

And anyone with a decent prop guy can borrow his hydraulic press/
Puller. It has variously fitted end caps and a piston. Better than beating a rod with a hammer cause you don’t mangle your bearing strut. So easy me and another eedgit figured it out on the fly.

You can expand the locker to a 6/10, 10/10 or what have you. My used a
larger cylinder to mold/glass in place and painted w bilgekote. There
is plenty room outboard and abaft the existing 6# cylinder slots.

make sure you get all the hoses when you paint it. On ebay, is that a 4-60 or a w60? seems different from ours, noting the heat exch., exhaust, etc.-as

hmm. timing. white smoke is water vapor or unburned fuel, so it could be either. I thought it could be leak into engine from coolant, raw water, etc. But temp increased from 145-150 up to 180 with lowering of oil pressure (thinking viscosity bc of temp) along with increased white smoke. Head gasket dn necessarily increase temp, I noticed no real loss of power and it starts fine (thanks to a properly primed fuel system – rich carter’s in-line electric priming pump!) So you may be right. I will check valve timing first. Still need valve cover gasket, tho. [drat]

I have a stupid piano hinged hatch in place of the turtle and hatch. Breaks if it opens too far. Inspection shows some bad core

Mine was dry in that NE rain but I’d give anything to have the slider back. The second means of ingress/egress is the only chance I have of connubial bliss given 3 young sons aboard.

Yes, that’s similar to what I did. You should find that the leak is gone. As an example, we got quite a lot of rain a week ago when a hurricane passed just to the east of cape cod. No leak from the main-cabin companionway hatch. Hope you find the same success.
