    Yup. 1 1/4″ I replaced mine recently.

You can find this stuff cheaper but the trick is shipping it cost
    effectively.

The DVD ones are about $150 now in this size. I decided to keep that
external as it will likely be Blu-Ray instead or just play from my computer.

    Picture attached.

removable hinges attach each board the bulkhead. The vertical panel on
the blukhead over the engine also hinges up.

I had to modify after I widened the bed since the front could no longer
fold down to the sole. It is now just a removable panel and all of the
latches are not on the front instead of the two on the sides.

There is a little sign available at many boat stores that states-

“For your convenience, the Captain has provided mint-flavored toilet paper.”
The sign came down when one female guest complained that the paper wasn’t at all minty. We never did figure out if she was bluffing.

Ahemm. On our boat, Regina Oceani, (queen of the ocean), we say “It is

While on the topic… On our boat, no one is allowed to pee over the
    rail, including the girls!

What’s the one common feature of almost all sailors found dead after
    falling overboard?
    Their pants flys are down.

    Bob,

There was a Jack Nicholson movie years ago in which his dominating wife
made him sit on the toilet to pee, for the same reason you have that
rule on your boat. There was a great scene when, right after the wife
passed away, Nicholson goes into the bathroom to take a leak. He starts
to sit, suddenly remembers that his bitchy wife is no longer there,
begins peeing in the toilet standing up, and then slowly turns around
360° while continuing to urinate, a triumphant grin on his face. He was
reclaiming his manhood and marking his territory. Great scene.

Not all guys are as secure in their manhood as you, Bob. They want to
stand. Of course, the captain’s rules are the law, so on your boat they
sit. Just hope one of them doesn’t someday feel compelled to reassert
his manhood and mark his territory.

We do all of the tips you mentioned. Still we get what seems like the beginning of a coral reef on the joker and the flapper, and the piston gasket wears too quickly.
We have also experienced cracking of the plastic pump housing, at the base. Perhaps due to vigorous pumping action after a #2.

Fill bilge with oil, keep engine immersed… (Sorry Joe, couldn’t miss

Too bad, I had a block and sent it to the recycling after stripping the
key parts off it for selling. I would have gladly given you the pan if

Or, just run the engine for 10-15 minutes and allow it to come up to temp.

    Dennis,

Since I glassed in a fuel tank under the salon floor I have some
intimacy with this matter… On my 424, there are indeed vertical
supports of the cross beams. These are roughly even with the inner edge
of the water tanks. They are just 2 x 3s or 2 x 4s mounted vertically
and cross bolted into the beams. They are glassed in to the hull and I
believe there is a plywood pad under them to spread the force around a bit.

    Hi All,

The saloon floor around the mast felt kind of soft. On examination I noticed that there was a gap between the bottom of the bunk and the saloon floor.

More access to the bilges has always been on my list, so I removed part of the cabin sole in this area.

There are two supports that run across the boat, but they do not have any support from the hull.

The question is – can one use the structural in-built glass fibre stringers as a base to add vertical supports for the cross beams.

    Appreciate any comments
