ParticipantI guess the wording that the instructions from the Coast Guard: “Arabic
numerals of at least 3 inches in height on some clearly visible interior
structural part of the hull” confuse me a bit. I don’t know that there is a
clearly visible structural part of the hull down below. However I guess a
bulkhead is a structural part of the hull so I can affix a plaque to that
and I will pass. From what you guys have described the Coast Guard is not
as concerned as I am about the number.
So a small plaque screwed to the bulkhead it will be. After the leaking
stanchion bases have been fixed.I hope it’s warm where you are, winter sucks

ParticipantYou know I hang out with college kids every day even so I’m not sure what ” squiring” is but it sounds like fun.

I don’t know much. ( I was going to say about trademark law but it says it all as is ) But I don’t think that there is anyone at Pearson that will be there to object to us using the logo. Or is there a Pearson Yacht company still operating?

I’ll take one. I attached the logo that I have. Didn’t know if you needed one to compare the font.

ParticipantWhen it comes down to it you could probably just burn them. I have, in my
younger days, thrown several 12 shotgun shells into the fire just to watch
everyone sitting around scramble for cover. The plastic shell melted and
there was a fizz of gunpowder and that’s about it. Without the barrel of
the gun to contain the pressure it just fizzed. I know the flare portion
would burn bright and hot but I doubt that it would cause a problem. Maybe
I can try that in the next couple of days since I live outside the city
limits. If you don’t here anything maybe things didn’t go so well.Linus

ParticipantI know that you can contact the Coast Guard as an organization such as a
yacht club. They will let you get together and discharge the out of date
flares for practice. With supervision of course.Linus

I was getting the .txt thing on the old forum. It seemed to be more related
to who the post was from. I have not seen any .txt since the change. I use
windows live mail. Maybe I just passed it on to Tor. Tag your it!Linus

ParticipantWhen I purchased the boat she had been registered with the state for 10
years. I have the bill of sale from the first and the transfer of ownership
with all the USCG paper work.
But now that you mention it the state has had a time getting the
manufacturer correct. Each year I have to ask them to change it from the
old name of the boat to Pearson. This may be related to some quirk in the
PO’s transfer to state registration. I purchased the boat from a customer
at my restaurant that had seen me constantly working on my previous new
boat. His health was failing and he made me a deal. I did nothing more
than transfer the state registration. I hope that this doesn’t wind up
biting me on the butt.Linus

ParticipantMy boat was documented as Grace in NY then it was sold to the man that I bought her from. He didn’t transfer the documentation. He registered her with the state. I have the original documentation and the papers that are bundled like he might have been thinking of transferring it. The application that I got from the internet doesn’t ask for any documents just some information from the documents.
I guess that I must just get started and see how the bureaucracy treats me.Thanks

See it’s I don’t speak the language. I think of exporting as a method of sending the route to another application or device. I have played some more and can’t wait to try it while hooked up to a GPS.
Thanks

ParticipantHelp! I downloaded the software for opencpn and the charts from noaa but I can’t save a route. I know that I must be missing something, is it because I don’t have a GPS hooked up or am I missing something on the software? I have been to the online help and I can’t figure out how to put the program to use. Once again a bartender not tech support damn!

ParticipantThat is what I used the stove pipe sealant. It was very sticky yet the pipes came right apart three years later. I can’t remember the brand it’s still in the shop down at the boat.

ParticipantI still like my rechargeable patio lights in the rod holders on either side of the cockpit. Being outboard enough to light the side of the hull for boats that don’t look up.

I found that I had to cut off the fill pipe and it helped a lot to push up from the back of the tank tilting it up from the stern.
