ParticipantGreat idea Bob! Thanks for making me see outside the box. I’ll trot down to West today and begin to sort it out.

ParticipantWe purchased the LED, AA powered, hocky puck lights from West. They have stick ems on the back and 2 light intensities. We’ve mounted them in all of the lockers throughout Lady Leanne, including the fridge. You do have to click them on/off, but the ease of installation (no holes ,no wiring) makes them worthwhile. Cheap!

Dan, did you check the little tube and hose on the installed rear end of the
engine, about 5 inches long? Hard to see and missed by many surveyors.

What little tube and hose? Is this part of the cooling system? What is its function? (I won’t be in Honolulu on the boat till Friday.)
Thanks

ParticipantThanks for the tip on routing a new hose. The present one has a reduced I.D. of about the size of a quarter due to scaling. Straight vinegar keeps it open, but doesn’t seem to make headway. A new hose is in order. I was wondering how to get it through that tight turn under the mid companionway ladder.
The prospect of a bucket for solids doesn’t “sit well” with the Admiral on trips between the islands.

ParticipantHere’s another vote for the PH-II. It works great for us and rebuild kits are even easy to get here in HI. I’m just wrestling with the accretion build up in the line from the head to the tank as the PO never bothered to treat it. I’ll be back on board in two weeks and am certainly “looking forward” to replacing that hose.

ParticipantIf gage and sender are mated electrically, then I will buy Westerbeke for both. Thanks

ParticipantCan the heat exchanger be cleaned out by a radiator shop? Less muss and fuss down below if possible.

ParticipantInterestingly, I never saw any mold when I peeled off the vinyl. It was just dried and crumbly foam. The boat’s been in Hawai’i since new and the tropical climate has not generated any of the black stuff you found. Is the soggy reputation of the Northwest a culprit here?

ParticipantTell the portlights that they’ll spend their golden years in Hawai’i. Yes, these are the ones I would like. I’ll take both if you have two.
I plan to refinish them and replace the ones presently installed that are suffering from broken tangs and hinges. This will do for now as I invest in things like a traveler; haul out with bottom job, new paint and other assorted below the waterline stuff.
How can I reimburse you?
