ParticipantHow did you get your parents and kids to evaporate? Brilliant. More disposable $ that way. Mine keep finding their way back from Port Authority.

ParticipantEvery 10 years or so, Yung-Mi earns her keep. Try Rockler (http://www.rockler.com), solid brass elbow catch, $6.29@. Now I have to wait another 10 years.

Hi All,
I’m missing a number of elbow catches on drawers (especially in the galley which is really annoying in boisterous seas). I hate the crappy Perko ones, even their brass ones. But I found a supplier of the catches that match the ones we already have:
The part is PLC206B; CATCH, ELBOW BURN. BRASS They are $10.10 each – more than the Perko, but far nicer.

Bob

We did that, with knobby carpet from Home Depot. Mixed results. Bunk sides worked well, and provided a bit of insulation, but overhead, the carpet is just too heavy to stay up with any kind of glue that we could find. We will replace it with something thinner and lighter.

ParticipantPer the advice of my chelated colleague, I am sticking with bicycle/go-kart paint from Mo’s Hardware. (Westerbeke red for the head and hot parts, yucko green for the cooling system) Its the outside canister of a sen dure heat exchanger that I am painting. The insides get chunk removal treatment and a bath of warm muriatic acid. As for the anchor chain, it has a rusty stretch (the part that went in the warm salt water) and I wanted to baby a few extra years out of it.

Uhhhm, what application in duck work does your tape have?
It’s duct tape, and it is used to seal tin (now steel) air conditioning and heating ducts. Duck tape was/is a particular brand of duct tape, but I think it came along after people commonly called it that anyway.

The brushes seem nice. Which giant AllClad pot did your wife let you use to boil the muriatic acid through the heat exchanger? I have mine on the workbench downstairs and I am cleaning and repainting it prior to reinstallation. Hoping to run COOL this summer.

ParticipantWire hanger in the tubes is dangerous. Up through the zinc hole might
be an option, though. The copper cooling lines are soft and thin. In a
pinch this summer I used a hose with massive water pressure, switching
between ports (in, out, repeat-just like the ketubah says).-Adam Silverstein-iPhone
