ParticipantI ran 3 separate 2 or 3 conductor cables through the bilge. Since they are already coveredI didn’t feel the need to run them through a tray or through conduit. I use wire ties to hold the cable up to the bottom of the sole. Nice and neat and out of the way.

ParticipantI winter my boat every year. I guess the PO got tired of re doing the terminal strip and just put quick connectors on the mast wires. That is what was there when I bought her and never looked any further.
Never knew it was there. In the trash heap now, along with all the rest of the wiring.

Alan,
You may navigate within the “Tropical Storm Zoneâ€

ParticipantOK, here’s the scoop from Reese Scott of IMIS .
If I am IN the NO NO zone DURING the exclusion period, I am covered for anything except damage from a Tropical storm (by their definition, which includes Nor’easters).
If I am outside the NO NO Zone, either during or not during the exclusion time period, and get whacked by a TS, then the deductible goes to 4%.alan

ParticipantThe quote I got was for 2777, which included 397.00 for protection and indemnity coverage???
The areas are:
Coastal waters from and including Maine and Florida, Bermuda, the Gulf of Mexico, Bahamas, Caribbean Sea
and West Indies, subject to applicable Travel Restrictions (form JL3000-0705)SO many that additional fee is already included?

ParticipantThe policy I attached to last nites e-mail, covered me for the Carib and Florida. Maybe I should have them excluded until I get there. It also includes Bermuda and the West Indies.

ParticipantThe question I am interested in is, if I am in the NO-NO Zone during the excluded time and damaged by let’s say a fire or other calamity and there was no damage due to a Named storm, am I still covered and can I make a claim?
As I read the policy, it says damage due to a named storm.
I guess I will have to wait for the answer from Jackline.

ParticipantIt looks like the exclusion zone is between July 1 and Oct 31 and need to be north of Jacksonville Fla or south of Grenada. (10 deg 50′ and 31 deg N)
What I am trying to find out is, do I become totally self insured then or just will pay a large ( almost double) deductible?
If I am there, am I still insured for claims not having to do with a Named storm?

ParticipantI’ve heard those requirements before. When I called, I told them I had personally done 3 offshore trips in the past 8 months. None of those in my boat of course. I wonder if that is why the difference. I have not yet read all the exclusions for being north or south of whatever yet. I may have them exclude Floriduh when I next speak with them.

ParticipantPatrick, I didn’t discover that until the window was in. Oh Well… but, I don’t think it would have made a difference. I think the window would have to be moved aft at least 1 1/2″ and that would have left a big gap that would need fiberglass and gelcoat work. I didn’t have to remove that much boat for the port to fit ( length wise).
I have to call them tomorrow about the screens. They don’t fit. There seems to be am 1/8 ” gap all around the window. Like there should have been a gasket.
I’ll keep you posted.

ParticipantThe shaft bearing was worn, but when I took the bearing out I found that the shaft was worn also. Just replacing the bearing would not have taken care of the slop.
While I had the shaft out, I also replace the packing gland with a PSS shaft seal.

ParticipantI had it done in Rochester NY so there was no shipping involved. The shaft cost about 550.
