SpectatorOur tangs have been breaking off our hatches so refinishing these may not
get you much to be honest. Let me make sure I have two worth sending. I’ll
contact you offlist to arrange to ship them to you.The boat had a lot of leaking (damn that teak eyebrow trim) so that water
and the months and month our boat would sit between uses lead to most of the
problems I believe.

SpectatorI had three access ports (plastic screw-ins) on my starboard tank which I
believe has a broken baffle probably from freezing. In my port tank we
installed two ports. I highly recommend these stainless ports over the
plastic Beckson screw-in ones. See the post:

Hello All
I have just installed a port in the forward end of the water tanks. When I
started cleaning I thought that there was just one baffle in the middle of
the tank. After being able to reach in both ends I found there is a second
baffle. This makes three separate sections in the tank one that I still
can’t get to. The tanks were nasty. I was inspired by Pat’s picture that
showed a white tank. I had no idea that the tanks were white on the inside
till I saw that photo. Both ends are now spotless but the middle section is
a little funky, much better than before but still funky. Has anyone
installed a third port to access the middle section to clean?Linus

SpectatorWe already put up a new layer of plywood, but we used poor material I
thought it was birch plywood. It’s MDF with birch faces. Now we have a leak
that is causing the MDF to expand in two spots so we’re going to have to
pull that down, but we put it up with epoxy over the old wood, so either we
grind off the MDF or pull out all of the wood and put up new wood.Very disappointing… calling crosscut hardwoods today to talk marine grade
plywood with them.-p

Quote:I replaced a section of the interior coach trim around one of the
portlights in the V-berth. As I recall, removing the drip-rail was trivial.
I drilled a small hole in the center of each bung. Put a screw in each and
popped the bung out. I removed the screws and the rail came off. The damaged
section ran under the forward bulkhead, so I used a multi-tool with a saw
bit and straightedge to cut the panel. The forward section of the panel
connects to the piece on the bow, so I cut there too. After removing the top
trim piece and portlight, the damaged section came out. I assume that you
have similar deterioration around one or more of your portlights. If you are
handy with tools, this repair is fairly simple. I can send photos of the
work if it might help.Regards

Hi Patrick,
Are you talking about the inside or outside of the cabin? If the ones
under
the portlights inside, they come out with the removal of those bungs and

really fancy things on trim when simple screws will do.Have fun!

But back to those drip rails. I can see a set of bungs and thus screws
along
the finished face facing the salon. Are they also bolted in on the forand
aft bulkheads I dont’ see any evidence of this. I’m going to have a boat
