SpectatorAlong those lines, I am going to mount my cockpit speakers under the Dodger or Bimini, but they’re the external box speakers, not the cutout mount in the wall kind.

SpectatorDawn and I scraped and scraped and scraped. We painted it with a white epoxy paint. I think it was from Pettit, but I’m not sure. I’ll look when I’m on the boat today or this weekend.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/deepplaya/sets/72157605240687273/We used De-Solv-it which is a citrus based solvent, non-toxic, no harmful fumes, works slower takes more time, cleans up with water and the boat smells great afterwards. The big orange hardened foam and glue came off mostly with a big paint scraper. The white caulk the PO or Broker squirted in there came off with a razor blade and really strong hands (I pulled the old registration letters off my dinghy by hand). The really gummy clear stuff came off with the citrus solvent and a razor blade.
We didn’t get every single square inch of the fiberglass clean. There are some hardened yelloworange areas and we just painted over it as-is. The paint has shrunk a bit in those areas and cracked. I think had I scored it with 80 girt first it would have stuck better. When we fill the boat with our stuff you’ll never ever see it I’m sure.

SpectatorTake a screwdriver from the starting swithch to the + positive terminal, the one on top, and I bet it will start, sounds exactly what I have been experiencing.

Opening day at the yacht club, so naturally the boat wo’t start. 🙂 (worked fine a couple days ago.)
When I go to start the motor there’s a ‘click’ in the vicinity of the starter motor. It sounds like the solenoid’s engaging, but no motor spin.
Is there any troubleshooting I need to do to wiring, or should I just pull the starter and have them rebuild it?

SpectatorSorry to hear your stepping out of your boat, but you’re probably moving on to something you’re both excited about so that’s good.
Let us know when you post the boat up for sale and we’ll interview candidates. As for the house, if you sold it 3.5 years ago, you did well (like I did). Owning now is depressing although less though in Seattle than the rest of the US.

SpectatorWhen I had my boat out last I scraped the prop and shaft sanded them with 120 grit and sprayed on a couple of coats of Pettit Zinc Coat Barnacle Buster (pic attached) at the suggestion of the yard. I think I still have enough in the can for 2 or 3 more applications.
I’ll let you know how we faired next time I haul.

SpectatorI have yet to use it yet, but the PO put in an anchor wash down pump. What I have is a ShurFlo Marine Tough Blaster 3.5 GPM 12v 11amp max pump located under the port v-berth sink. It is plumbed into the seacock for the sink drain with no strainer.
There is a hose fitting on deck just under the toe rail even with where the pump is mounted. There is a switch for it located for it in the cabinet under the sink as well.I have since removed the sink in the v-berth and the through hull there is now dedicated to the this pump. It needs a strainer added to it as well. I may move the switch above deck when I redo the windlass.

I’m asking that question of New Found Metals to find out the max width including operating the latches. I measure 23″ between the bulkheads in the shower.I’ll let you know what I find out.
