Hmmm. i got price from the list I was looking at. As for the spacers,
I think they would be a necessity given that I recall our cabin top as
    quite thin.

We will be here for one more day. I’ll check tomorrow regarding prices
for 6 with spacers and whatever else might be needed.

    Hi Pat,
I also am considering the NFM SS ports and called Michael Lux as you
suggested to Joe. The boat show price I received for six 5×12 ports was
$1529.10 which he said was a $37 per port saving. The $1529.10 price works
out to be $254.85 each. Just curious about the source of the $230 price you
mentioned in your earlier message.? Second question concerns cabin wall
thickness. Do you (or anyone else) know what that is? Alternatively, can
someone who has purchased these tell me whether teak spacers were required
to make up the correct thickness? Michael Lux mentioned needing somewhere
around 3/4 inch thickness. I’d be surprized if our cabins are that thick.
    Thanks,

We would rather be inclusive so non-boat show section it is. Where is it?

They can take a tentative orders. No sales tax and there is a boat
show but I don’t know what it is. The price for 5×12 SS. Is 230.

We have a U shaped galley – also vintage 1982. The solenoid is forward
of the stove behind the “smoked glass” in a small compartment, just aft
    the salon locker.

    Thatcher,
Mine is located in the forward end of the locker outboard of the stove. I

U-shaped galley. I would guess it is directly above your stove locations.

Hi everyone. My boat was delivered new in 1982 with an installed propane

There’s a second solenoid nearer to the stove. The idea is if something
    goes
wrong at the stove, one can turn a switch at the stove and turn off the gas
flow closer than the rear locker.

Does anyone know where that second solenoid is mounted, before I waste a
    lot
    of time looking?

    Thanks.

We made this mod several years ago before LEDS were bright enough for
reading and cheap enough to afford. We replaced it with a 6″ cold cathode .
    http://www.taylormadeproducts.com/taylorbrite/6in_ccf.html

We’ve never been sorry. It’s cool ( ie doesn’t give off heat ) and
energy friendly. It is also dim-able although we have not taken
    advantage of this.

We also installed linear version over the icebox in the galley (dbl
one), each side of the table (single one) and in the nav station ( dbl
    with 1 red and 1 white ) ..

    We’ve been quite pleased.

We are now cleaning out the house which has been sold so we have
    “original” parts to part with.

Wow, you guys must use an awful lot of toilet paper. I use Scott TP, the
1000 sheet rolls. Not soft and cuddly like Charmin, but when it touches
water it dissolves. You can use the normal amount and have no trouble
    getting it through the head.

I’ve had company on board for days at a time and never had a problem with
either the holding tank or head.

Not that it’s not a good idea to stow the used TP separately, but I’ve never
    found the need.

To each their own, I guess.

As an aside, when I’m using the holding tank I use the shower for the
water. I try to keep salt water out of the holding tank. It’s better for
    keeping the smell down.

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.
Attach a  50 foot 5/8 dock line to your forward stb cleat.
Let it drag in the the water until you start the engine
Put engine in fwd gear and rev up to 2000 rpm.
As the line wraps around the prop shaft between the prop and the strut it
will quickly pull the shaft out of the coupling (it acts as a screw as the
line is wrapped around the shaft)
no muss – no fuss – don’t even have to get your hands dirty
Add 20 knots of wind and coral reefs on either side of you and it makes for
    a complete afternoon.
Thanks to Walt P ( Madness Hull #1) for the assistance in getting it back
    together.

to move the pump to under the v-berth sink and use the sink drain as
the source of sea water (tee the fitting).

See the vertical wall in the fiberglass, just behind the mast step?
That will be the front of the tank. The aft edge will be just in front
of the flat area in front of the deep bilge. This will leave me a step
for getting down into the bilge. My new fuel valve/filter/polishing
system(with a drip catch pan) will mount on one side there (pictures
later) and the valves/filters for the watermaker on the other side. I
am debating about topping the tank below the 2×4’s or coming up a few
inches on either side. There will be an access hatch for the fittings.
I will add another button to my TankTender for use as the tank gauge.
More fun on the Front Range…
