ParticipantWon’t work…. because of where you have to attach the hinge and where it will pivot.
If you can come up with a solution, Beckie will bake you one of her world famous pies…..

ParticipantI looked at my boat today, and I don’t think I want to put the 8″ port in the shower. Way too big. I’ll use the 6×20 on the other 3 like Patrick, and use the 3×17 in the shower stall. I’ll add some epoxy to fill in the cutout a little bit so it has more to bite on.

ParticipantMine hinge at the top….. I like it, the SO hates it…. haven’t found anything else that works yet.
I know when I traveled with Walt, on MADNESS (hull #1) from NE to Bermuda, his were velcroed in. In rough weather they get thrown around like ragdolls. Walt now has a rope across them to hold them in place. Not elegant but functional.

ParticipantPatrick,
Did you get the ports installed?
I’ve already done the 6 fwd ports (5×12) and mulling over the sizes for the other 4.
Just out of curiosity why didn’t you go with the the 8×18’s for the four aft ports?

Participantchainplates, chainplates, chainplates……. look for evidence of leaks or discoloration on wood, fabrics, shelves, underside of decks. A good surveyer will pick up on this. But might be helpfull on the inititial visit.

ParticipantInteresting video. Ultimate Brightwork has not been sold in a couple of years. It’s the sister product to UltimateSole. I believe it was pulled off the market cause it didn’t work as advertised. UltimateSole works great. I suppose any varnish work work…interlux etc…..

ParticipantIf you want to have the benefits of bottomsiders but don’t want to pay the cost. It’s just closed cell foam with a finish applied. I have the closed cell foam which I bought at a fabric store and had the texilene (or however it’s spelled) fabric covered made for it.
The kids use them for floats in the water….. actually they sit on them and shave their legs while their floating around. More buoyancy then a PFD.

ParticipantThe Garmin 540 has a 0183 NMEA inut/output. What you need to check is, the baud rate. The AIS has 38000 I am not sure whether the Garmin is capable of that, you have to check with them.

ParticipantThats were I am at. I want to put something on now, while the boats in the parking lot that will be good for the warmer waters. I really don’t want to haul again before I leave in September. But I need to be sure that the fresh water won’t hurt the bottom paint while it’s still in Lake Ontario.
From what I am reading, Trinidad SR seems to be the leading favorite.
Now, when I brought the boat up here from Tampa, it had a good coat of something (hard) and I have not touched the bottom in the 6 years Ive owned it. No barnacles up here. Very little slim when I haul in the fall. SO, I guess I am ahead of the game so far.
I am thinking, rough it up with a 3M pad and roll it on…..
